The Sexist Expectations For Men To Work More Than Women

Men have been generally far more pressured than women to not just put more physical effort into work, but to endanger their physical and mental health if necessary.  One can see this when a man is automatically asked or assigned to move something that might not even be particularly heavy when an able-bodied woman is already available.  No matter how uncomfortable with the task a man is, he will almost certainly be mocked or dismissed for saying they are not pack mules, that women are capable of physical labor too, and that something might be unsafe or damaging for them.

Related is the false idea that men have an obligation to simply work that women do not have.  This is a part of the heresies of conventional American complementarianism, where women are expected to either do work around the house only and not contribute to their marriage's income or just have men do everything possible for them.  Complementarianism of this kind promotes laziness, entitlement, and passivity in women while expecting self-destructive levels of activity in men, not that there are not ways this is inverted for men and women outside of the workplace in standard complementarianism.

In addition to the usual nonsense that so many people as a whole have to face in their professional lives, men specifically face discrimination in work settings in the sense that they are expected to take harsher jobs, work more hours, or put up with dehumanizing comments in some cases moreso than women.  This is besides the greater obstacles to being recognized as victims of sexual harassment or assault in the workplace or elsewhere.  As far as labor is concerned, as in other cases, men might be stereotyped and thus mistreated (even if they are just stereotyped, this is still an immense stupidity and is mistreatment).

Moreover, women might face maternity leave discrimination, but men might be denied paternity leave altogether.  There are ultimately all sorts of interconnected ways that both men and women are actively discriminated against at work.  All sexism against one gender by necessity involves at least a minor degree of sexism towards the other, and for men, the misconceptions that they lack emotion, are physical brutes, or want to waste their lives working professionally lead to them being societally demanded or assumed to put more into careers than women.

All workers can be oppressed, regardless of age, gender, race, or other factors.  Not everyone will have the same asinine, crushing pressures that men are so often given, but men might receive this just because they are men.  Laughter over how men are treated like slave animals or like machines with endless energy reserves does not make sexism valid.  It is contrary to reason because gender does not necessitate any level of physical strength or mental traits and there cannot be gender-specific moral obligations, for that which is good or evil could only be good or evil for all.  This is the inherent nature of something being obligatory.
